In Jiangsu’s transportation network, the Suqian section of the Ning-Su-Xu Expressway serves as a "golden artery" linking the Yangtze River Delta with northern Jiangsu. Its interchanges, however, have long been plagued by frequent accidents due to complex traffic flows and poor visibility. Recently, Shanghai Sansi Electronic Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereafter "Sansi") tackled this challenge through "Light Control Intelligence", transforming the area into a pilot project for integrated smart traffic warning and lighting.
Sansi deployed LED strobe warning devices, acoustic-optic-electronic message signs, and a low-position forward-lighting warning system along the expressway. Through intelligent coordination and scenario-based control, these solutions enhance driving safety in complex road conditions.
As the flagship product, the LED strobe warning device combines red-blue flashing lights with text alerts. Featuring a dual power supply (mains/solar) and resilience against extreme temperatures and strong winds, it safeguards high-risk sections. Its high-brightness LEDs create intense visual cues via rapid flashing, while 32cm-tall smart text displays deliver real-time warnings. Paired with intelligent sub-control boxes that auto-adjust warning modes based on visibility, the system builds a full-scenario safety network.
In subsequent ramp sections, low-position warning lights are spaced scientifically to enable multi-mode alerts:
·Steady red for critical warnings
·Steady yellow for cautions
·Auto-switching during severe weather
Together with the low-position forward-lighting system, they enhance road contour recognition and driving safety. The smart sub-control boxes employ multi-channel communication to auto-activate protocols:
·Road closure triggers during low visibility (strobes + red "STOP")
·Accident alerts (flashing red + strobes) for multi-tier warnings
Functioning as the "heart" of the system, the strobe warning sub-control box monitors device status in real time, creating a closed-loop "environment sensing → strategy generation → device coordination" framework to boost response efficiency.
The acoustic-optic-electronic LED variable message signs serve as auxiliary units. Near toll stations, their full-color displays and voice broadcasts improve information delivery. Sansi also integrated directional high-power speakers, whose precise sound beams cut through highway noise to deliver clear warnings—preventing accidents even in chaotic, high-traffic environments.
As China advances its national strategy of building transportation strength, Sansi leverages this pilot project to drive R&D innovation. By fusing LED smart terminals with IoT and big data, the company contributes technological prowess to modern transportation systems.
