In July, the priority section of the North-South Expressway in Montenegro was officially opened to the public, which is regarded as one of the symbolic infrastructure projects in Europe. The lighting and information board products in this well-known project were undertaken by Shanghai Sansi, a long-established Chinese corporation in LED industry. Recently, Sansi once again achieved a historic moment: the first expressway in Cambodia, Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway, officially opened for trial operation in October, 2022. Shanghai Sansi has lit up this "golden channel" with its unparalleled LED technology.
The Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway has a total length of 187.05 kilometers. It connects the capital Phnom Penh and the important port city of Sihanoukville which spans 5 major provinces and cities in Cambodia. The completion of this expressway also symbolizes the official entry into the highway era of Cambodia.
As the well-known proverb in Cambodia goes: "Where there is a road, there is hope". For a long time, the backward transportation infrastructure has greatly restricted the development of Cambodia. After the opening of the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway, the drive from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville has been shortened from 5 hours to 2 hours, which not only facilitates the local traffic situation, but also greatly reduces the cost of transportation and promotes the economic development.
As a large scale transnational project, the construction of the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway has a extremely strict demand in the selection of products. Shanghai Sansi stood out from other competitors with its excellent technical strength and rich project experience, and provided thousands of sets of LED lighting products, LED intelligence boards and integrated system solutions for this project.
In the early stage of the project, the Sansi team formulated a most scientific and suitable lighting scheme based on the practical road and environmental characteristics through on-site exploration. Sansi uses various lighting products such as guardrail lights, LED street lights, high-pole lights to strengthens main road lighting and low-level lighting, and creates a perfect lighting effect in the expressway while ensuring basic lighting.
Sansi LED guardrail lights are installed in many sections of the expressway, which effectively use the guardrails on both sides of the road as the carrier. The particularly special part is the lens design with secondary light distribution optimization, which improves the luminous efficiency and effectively reduces the glare phenomenon. In addition, the overall power consumption of the lights is relatively low and the service life is longer, which reduces the exposure of strong light to the space outside the road and avoids the generation of light pollution.
In addition to guardrail lights, the high-pole lights and other lighting products adopt Sansi self-developed ceramic heat dissipation technology, which helps to dissipate heat faster. The equipped high-efficiency LED chips can effectively reduce light decay. And the unique narrow section design reduces the wind resistance and ensures the durability of the product.
There are 5 toll gates on the entire expressway so that correct and clear traffic signs are essential. In response to this special requirement, Sansi has provided several sets of VMS series products to provide real-time reminders of road traffic, weather conditions and toll station conditions. The VMS series product adopt a number of reliable technologies and high-durability materials, which can adapt to the severe weather such as lightning and typhoon in tropical areas like Cambodia.
Up to now, Sansi LED lighting products and related systems have been applied in many large-scale transportation projects such as the North-South Expressway of Montenegro, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, and the Cyprus Highway.
